Fancy a bird’s eye view of the Chemin des Dames?
As a child Arnaud was already very keen on ‘flying machines’ and wanted to become an air force pilot. “A child’s dream! One day during the holidays I was lucky enough to discover microlighting. It was a turning point in my life”, he confides. And he’s been flying ever since. At 18 he gained his pilot’s licence (three-axis and paramotor). At 21 he obtained his instructor’s diploma ‘with flying colours’.
This young entrepreneur may have his head in the stars but his feet are firmly on the ground. His clients in the Marne have remained faithful and he is expanding his services: introductory flights, flying lessons, renting out space, air based work. “Our customer base is very wide. Clients come from all over France: Marseille, Colmar, Paris. Gift vouchers account for a large part of our tourist sales.”
From the sky you will get a good view of the front line, the Plateau de Californie and Vauclair abbey, as well as Arnaud’s commentary on soldiers who fought at the Chemin des Dames. Flights take off all year, winter and summer, as long as the wind is steady. Rates are very reasonable compared to those charged for other thrilling sports. You can go on an introductory flight for as little as 37 €uros. So what are you waiting for ?
