02200 - BERZY-LE-SEC

The Crise valley is a historical site where the most important battles unfolded. Numerous churches and castles were built in the valley and their vestiges may still be visited. The Berzy-le-Sec castle dates back to between the 12th and 16th century, because it was built in several stages. Today the ruins of the building remain: adjacent ditches and an inner courtyard. This castle was turned into a farm from the 18th century until the First World War. Restorations have continued since 2000/2001 thanks to volunteer restoration workers. Weekend + 15-day restoration sessions in summer. The last restorations date back to 1934/1944.
