CHIVRES-VAL
The Condé Fort is a fine example of late 19th century military architecture. Not far from the Chemin des Dames, between Laon and Soissons, this historical monument is part of the defence system devised by General Séré de Rivière after the defeat in 1870. It is part of the French tradition of fortification from Vauban to Maginot. Partially destroyed during the 1st World War, it was designed to accommodate six hundred men, their officers, horses and ammunitions included.
Storm this stronghold built of freestone, its paths, arboretum, picnic area and a panoramic view await you!
