LES JARDINS DE LA MUETTE

© L. Vivant

02600 - LARGNY-SUR-AUTOMNE

Amazement and enchantment! The La Muette gardens are laid out along the ruins of a large 16th century terrace and around the home which used to belong to the Longueval family, captains of the hunting parties from Francois 1st to Henry 4th. A wide lane of chestnut trees and a lane of lime trees run alongside the large pilaster-adorned terrace. It is impressive in its length and the quality of its bonding; it overlooks the Automne valley and a large wooded bank. In the inner courtyard, there is an incredible boxwood garden closed-in on all four sides, the house and the arbour. An archway of pruned hornbeams opens out onto the lower terrace.
