“Recharge your batteries” with this 2 day expedition. From its first trickle to its majestic sweep into the port of Antwerp at its estuary, the Escaut is a hard working river. A 12 km route takes you to its very spring in a shady ash grove, once a place of pilgrimage.
The Somme is rather more “laid back”, a real fisherman’s river. Its source can be found near the old convent at Fervaques. Leaving from the old weaving village of Fresnoy-le-Grand, you have a 17 km hike on paths and little country roads to get there.
The ‘Ferme du Vieux Puits’ is a Gîtes de France guesthouse with rooms above the farmhouse inn where you have dinner. Separate entrance.
Activities available on-site: mountain biking, tennis, table tennis, heated swimming pool shared with other guests (open May 1st to September 30th).
