At nightfall, noble lords and ladies, peasants and valiant knights will all accompany you on a magical trip back through history to the time of the Lords of Coucy.
Every Friday and Saturday evening in July, over 350 volunteers – actors, technicians, extras – join forces to bring to life an extraordinary and fantastic adventure. Come and take part in their new spectacular, “Le Fer” (the Sword), a tale from the Hundred Years War. The Black Death is taking a terrible toll, the English are threatening attack and, at Coucy, an arrogant young lord, Enguerrand VII, rules over the lower classes. Support Lucianne who swears to avenge the death of her beloved, executed by the Lord of Coucy, and see the magnificent sword that is forged for her …
In the first part visitors can ‘explore’ the medieval world through a range of shows & events – the trade village, the royal camp, knights jousting, fire-eaters, etc.
In the second part, from comfortable tiered seating, visitors can watch the 3 hour show with its impressive setting, spectacular production and striking special effects, full of magic, plotting and betrayal. Castle gates open (medieval village, the King’s camp, the lists), places to eat available, access to tiered seats, audience take their seats, start of the show.
