A 43 km circular hike over 2 days, leaving from Nogent l'Artaud, an attractive little town in the Marne valley.
On the first day you walk upstream along the Marne, through the Champagne vineyards as far as Château-Thierry. On the second day, you walk up to the American War Memorial, Cote 204, before following the ridge road that descends as it follows the meanders of the river, affording many fine views of the vines and wine-growing villages all around.
A spacious Clévacances guesthouse (3 ‘clés’ standard) in a 16th century character residence at the foot of the old castle in Château-Thierry. This haven of peace and quiet, with its tasteful décor and abundance of flowers, is very close to the birthplace of that most famous fable writer, Jean de La Fontaine.
1 night in guesthouse on half-board terms, including drinks (aperitif on arrival, half-bottle of wine or 33 cl. bottle of beer per person, water and coffee) - Packed lunch, including drinks for 2nd day - Details of the route with a colour map (IGN) – 1 route card for 2 people.
